Is.10:5-7,13-16; Matt.11:25-27
One of the things I remember clearly about the soap opera “Super Story” and indeed all Wale Adenuga Productions, is that there’s usually a quote at the end of each show – “we’re nothing but pencils in the hand of the creator.” Look at Assyria in the first reading; God gave her permission to rise against those who angered Him. But Assyria forgot she was only a pencil. She began arrogating powers to herself like the axe, the saw and the cudgel, who forget that they’re useless if no one picks them up.
Friends, just like pencils, we’re useless when no one picks us up. Our lives have meanings only because of God’s spirit in us. St Bonaventure, the Franciscan Friar, whose memorial we celebrate today, says, “knowledge of God is clearer to the simple and uneducated than the wise.” This is exactly the case with Children and those who are child-like. Children never claim to be bold or courageous except their parents are around. We need to become more like children, and let God’s will be done in our lives.
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead. St. Bonaventure, pray for us!
