In a press briefing today, January 15, 2021, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki postponed the resumption of schools till February 1, 2021. He also reviewed the curfew times to begin at 10:00PM each day, and end at 5:00AM the following day.

He further explained that schools will remain closed so that relevant authorities can make adequate preparations for COVID-19 regulations compliance in schools, with a ‘no face mask, no entry policy.’

Teams were said to be in place to ensure compliance, and impose fines and community service to defaulters, when and where necessary.

Regarding worship, the Governor stated that the relevant religious stake holders in the state have agreed to ensure strict compliance, noting that henceforth, worship activities will not exceeed one hour, and that all entrances will have running water/soap/sanitizers.

Furthermore, places of worship will no longer take more than 30% of their original capacity, and intervals between one worship activity and another must not be less than an hour to enable the decontamination of used spaces.

Furthermore, since the second wave of the pandemic has noticeably affected children, children under the age of twelve, and adults above the age of 60 are encouraged to stay at home, and worship God using alternative channels for the time being.
