The President-Elect of the All African Students Union (AASU), Comrade Osisiogu Osikwe, has applauded the Abia State Government for its visionary commitment to the education sector, particularly the bold allocation of 20% of the state’s annual budget to education.
Osikwe gave the commendation on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Government House in Umuahia, where he was warmly received by Governor Alex Otti. Describing the policy as “a reassuring sign that Abia is placing its young people at the center of development,” he noted that such investment reflects global best practices and places the state on a progressive path.
As an Abia born student leader rising to continental prominence, Comrade Osikwe expressed profound pride in the governor’s efforts. He said seeing his home state take the lead in educational reform is both inspiring and personally meaningful, adding that Abia’s progress strengthens his resolve to champion quality education across Africa.
The AASU President-Elect praised Governor Otti for his remarkable work in upgrading schools, supporting teachers, and investing in modern learning facilities. He explained that the 20 percent allocation is not just a number but a strong commitment to empowering the next generation.
Comrade Osisiogu pledged the full support of AASU in advancing educational reforms and assured the governor of the readiness of African students to work with Abia in promoting innovation, leadership training, and academic excellence.
He expressed confidence that Abia’s example will inspire other states to place education at the heart of development.
