Four private hospitals in Lagos have been suspended over exposure to patients who tested positive to the novel Coronavirus.
The hospitals are located in Lekki, Ajah, Victoria Island and Ikoyi
- St Edwards Hospital, Ajah Lagos
- Vedic LifeCare Hospital, Lekki, Lagos
- Premier Specialist Hospital, VI, Lagos
- First Cardiology Consultants, Ikoyi
In a notice released by Vedic LifeCare Hospital, they reported that a patient who was admitted and discharged 10 days ago had later tested positive for Coronavirus.
Two staff members of the hospital also tested positive and are currently being managed by the NCDC while other staff members are also undergoing testing. The hospital building is currently closed and was decontaminated by the NCDC on 18th April, 2020.
@DrOlufunmilayo, a twitter influencer and medic took to the microblogging platform and advised that persons who had been to these hospitals in the last 10days should self-isolate at home and stay away from their loved ones for the next two weeks as there’s a very high chance they have been exposed to Coronavirus.
He further stated that if subsequently, symptoms such as fever, cough and breathing difficulties arise, affected individuals are to contact 08000CORONA, or message @NCDCgov
