Tuesday of the Twentieth Week in Ordinary Time. Year II. Ezek.28:1-10; Matt.19:23-30
Ezek.28:1-10; Matt.19:23-30
We have seen and known ruthless rulers, who became so because of wealth. You see, wealth brings power, and power corrupts. When we have too much wealth, we develop the god-complex, forgetting that we shall die. Have you ever seen anyone so rich, that he/she raised a cheque to buy eternal life? God condemns the ruler of Tyre through the Prophet Ezekiel in the first reading of today. Why? The man had developed the god-complex. He felt invincible, indestructible. He was terribly mistaken.
Friends, what’s the value of all the wealth if it can’t be used for any good? Jesus says riches are in fact obstacles to salvation. The rich man or woman needs God’s grace to be detached that he or she may make heaven. Why is everyone crazy about money then? So we can buy Bugattis and Lamborghinis? Can we drive them to heaven? Let’s try to remain humble and down to earth. Heaven isn’t for the swollen. Heaven isn’t for the proud. Hence, Jesus says to leave everything and follow him. In this decision lies salvation.
Good morning dear. God bless your day ahead.
