Jer.3: 14-17; Matt.13:18-23
Why do we keep God’s commandments? Why not just do as we please in this world and call it a life? Well, in the first place, we do not belong to ourselves. We belong to God. He made us for Himself. Secondly, our ultimate goal is heaven, we’re only passing through this life. God’s commands are guiding principles to our ultimate purpose – salvation.
Today’s readings draw our minds to one important fact – only God should be God in our lives. When we fail to understand and live out God’s word, the devil ‘jumps us’ and frustrates the growth of that word in us. We cannot let money, fame, and vain glory become gods in our lives. We must stop killing one another by the many evils we do; lying, bearing false witness, stealing, immorality, etc. In this vale of life, hearing the word of God and acting upon it is key. Is your heart ready?
Good morning dear. God bless your weekend ahead.
