Saturday of the Twenty-Third Week in Ordinary Time. Year II. I Cor.10:14-22; Luke 6:43-49
It takes faith, and a lot of grace to dig deep. Yes! As we journey through life, we’re sometimes tempted to pitch camp where there is temporary pleasure/gain, but if we’re deeply rooted in Christ, we are able to scale these temptations. In today’s first reading, St Paul makes it clear that we cannot eat and drink the body and blood of Christ, and yet be in communion with demons. It’s time to let go of sin and pleasure.
Friends, our Lord Jesus Christ encourages us today to not only listen to his words, but also to act on it. For the one who listens and acts is like one who builds his house on rock, with firm foundations. But the one who listens and refuses to act is like one who builds his house on sand with no solid foundations. What happens when the torrents of life bear down upon it? It topples and falls. Let’s stay rooted in Christ Jesus that we may never fall or lose our way, Amen.
