Please join us and the Archdiocese of Abuja in thanking God for the safe release of Rev Fr Dajo Matthew, who was kidnapped in a violent attack in Yangoji, where his parish is located, on November 21, 2020.

The kidnappers were said to have picked up the Catholic priest from his parish after shooting sparodically into the air for several minutes.

Recall that international news media like Catholic News Agency, had carried the news of the Priest’s abduction, calling on the Government of Nigeria to take adequate actions to arrest the rising spate of insecurity.

Father Dajo Matthew regains his freedom after spending close to two weeks in the kidnappers’ den.

Reacting to the good news, the Archbishop of Abuja Archdiocese, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, wrote in a memo addressed to the Clergy, Religious and Lay Faithful of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja; “we thank God for the safe release of our brother, Fr. Matthew Dajo, today Wednesday 2nd December, 2020. We thank you all for your kind prayers. We also thank the family of Fr. Dajo and all those who assisted in securing his release. We pray that there will be increased security in our country…”

We thank God for safe guarding his priest throughout the course of his captivity. May his name be praised now and forever. Amen.

We pray for the repose of the souls of all who have lost their lives to the insurgency in the country. May they rest in peace. Amen.
