Friday of the Twenty-Fourth Week in Ordinary Time. Year II. 1 Cor.15:12-20; Luke 8:1-3
Today’s readings remind us that life doesn’t end here on earth. If there wasn’t any resurrection of the dead, all who have died in Christ would have died in vain, and Christians would have been the most unfortunate persons on earth. But Jesus was in fact raised from the dead, becoming the first fruits of all who had fallen asleep. Think about all the loved ones you’ve lost, who now sleep in Christ. Think about the mercy of the Father; think about the New Life Christ won for you and for me…
Friends, in the gospel reading, we read about the Apostles, and the women who followed Jesus through towns and villages, proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God, by any means they could. These followers of Jesus had been so transformed with something of the New Life, that they didn’t mind supporting the ministry of Jesus from their own resources. They were ready to do anything for the sake of God’s Kingdom here on earth and in the hereafter. Today, are we as committed as the earlier Apostles of Jesus?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you’re the source of our great joy, the fountain of all life. You bring us living water, you bid us taste and see. We come to you this day, we bless you Lord, we glorify your name. We praise you Lord, we worship you, we thank you for your gift of New Life. Amen.
