The Catholic Diocese of Minna has called on all the faithful to kindly offer Masses and prayers for the eternal repose of the soul of Very Rev Fr John Gbakaan Yaji killed by unknown Gunmen on his way from a journey, yesterday January 15, 2021.

The Catholic Priest, who was barely four years in the Priesthood is said to have been a very gentle and humble priest, dedicated to the service of God and his people.

An official memo released by the Chancellor of the Diocese, Fr. Ben., reads: “On a sad note, the Bishop with the Priests and religious and the entire Minna DIOCESE mourn the death of a brother, a friend, a priest and a Great Dean Very Rev Fr John Gbakaan Yaji killed by unknown Gun men last night on his way back from a Journey. The deceased’s younger brother is still abducted and not found. Pray for the repose of his soul, and the safe release of his Brother”.

Recall that last year December 9, 2020, the Vicar General of Minna Diocese, Msgr. Luka Sylvester Gopep, was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of the same Diocese by the Holy Father.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Minna is a diocese located in the city of Minna in the Ecclesiastical province of Kaduna in Nigeria, under the Pastoral Care of Bishop Martin Igwe Uzoukwu.

With the rising spate of insecurity in the country, we cannot but hope and pray for better governance.

May God grant eternal rest to Rev Fr John, and may his brother be released safely and speedily.
