Governor Obaseki, through his official Facebook account, has assured members of the state that medical personnel have been trained to man 50 testing centers, especially in the local government areas that have already recorded cases of the COVID-19. He further stated that the aim is to test over 500,000 persons in the coming weeks.
While encouraging everyone to remain at home, he gave the assurance that relief items are presently on their way to the needy. This message came hours after he gave his EASTER address.
The account read partly, “In the wake of the economic implications of the restrictions imposed to stop the coronavirus pandemic, the Edo State Government has commenced the distribution of relief materials to most vulnerable residents across the state.
Governor Godwin Obaseki in his Easter address had said the relief items would be distributed to the elderly, widows, the physically challenged and the homeless, among others. He said the exercise will be conducted in collaboration with traditional rulers, religious leaders and community partners.
The distribution of the materials kicked off Sunday in Benin City, at the Edo COVID-19 Relief Factory, where trucks loaded with relief items were dispatched to different local government areas in the three senatorial districts.”
We hope and pray that this process will be transparent and corruption free.
