To say that the state we’ve found ourselves in, in today’s Nigeria, is pathetic, would be stating the obvious.

At 8:00AM today, Tuesday December 15, 2020, unknown gunmen abducted a Catholic Priest of the Sons of Mary Mother of Mercy (SMMM), Umuahia, Nigeria, who was on his way to bury his late father.

The priest, Rev. Fr. Valentine Oluchukwu Ezeagu was traveling in a Toyota Corolla 2005 model, with registration number JJJ 664 BM.

An eye witness account from a commuter who was driving behind the priest at the time of the kidnap said that four armed men came out of the bush in a bad spot at Umulolo, Arondizuogu, and forced him into the back of their own vehicle, before speeding off.

In an official letter dated 15th December, 2020, the Secretary General of the Congregation, Rev. Fr. Goodluck C. Ajaero, SMMM, confirmed the incident, requesting fervent prayers for his immediate and safe release.

This comes on the heels of the mass abduction of school pupils from their dormitories in Katsina State.

Our government has indeed failed us!

Our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Please let us pray for all those presently in the shackles of kidnappers, and those who have lost their lives to this gross incompetence of government.
